The Pledge of Allegiance

I hope the link below will display!  It's a video showing Porky Pig reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954, two years before I was born!

I remember reciting the Pledge every day in Auditorium class, and our teacher instructed us to say, "One Nation Under God" all at one time without pausing.  Half the class would still pause from habit, "One Nation; Under God"; and it ruined the rest of the pledge because we all finished at different times!

  1. Wow... Sounds like your teacher was a bit of a nit-picking authoritarian... Interesting that the "under gOd" phrase wasn't part of the pledge till the mid 50's. Sort of like the addition of "In gOd We Trust" on the currency. So much for freedom from religion. :/

    1. I tried commenting under your very positive video from Vimeo, but it said comments were disabled by administrator. Oh well. That's a great video, and I also could relate to your post where nonvegans use the excuse, "You will never get everyone to go vegan." I've been told that many times too! Usually I find a very unhealthy, overweight man in his 30s telling me that. If only he knew what his future might hold, he might change his diet! But like you said, people do change as times change and we have a lot to be hopeful for!
